The Corporate Learning Camp 2018 was a special experience for us: A special format, a special audience, and three special favorite topics in focus! What those topics were, what we learned, and what future trends we brought for you can be found here!
The CLC: A special concept
Those who, like Michael and Hans-Martin, traveled to the fully booked Corporate Learning Camp in Kassel on September 27-28 were actually not participants at allners. Under the large banner "Learning Worlds of the Future," about 300 trainers, coaches, and representatives from schools and universities gathered to be all partakers of this very special event.
Enormously exciting for everyone whose professional focus is on learning is the CLC due to its format: During the two-day Barcamp, participants set their plans and the "sessions" that will take place every morning themselves. "Sessions" are a free format for exchanging experiences and ideas, organized and guided by the participants themselves. The aim is to enable an active and hierarchy-free exchange - hence also partakers, as this process does not only accept knowledge but also focuses on dialogue. This year, we attended many events, but the CLC had a truly incomparable creative and inspiring spirit that one must experience firsthand.
Blended Learning as "Learning World of the Future"?!
This year's motto "Learning Worlds of the Future" fits us like a glove: Blended Learning is still a new term for many, even though the principle of combining traditional face-to-face events with self-directed online phases is super simple and incredibly effective. In addition to temporal and spatial flexibility, Blended Learning offers many other advantages for you, companies, and participants. We firmly believe that Blended Learning has huge potential to shape the "Learning World of the Future"! That’s why active exchange on this topic and educating about Blended Learning was a heartfelt concern for CLC 2018.
In this exchange of ideas and experiences, Michael and Hans-Martin were, as always, right at the front: They arranged three exciting topics in the form of "sessions" over the two days - and not only shared knowledge but also brought many impulses and impressions back with them.
The blink.it-Sessions:
From theory to practice, sessions are not classical lectures, where a few experts convey knowledge to many participants. Quite the opposite! Each session is unique: From discussion rounds to improvisational theater, every format is represented. Together, they only last 45 minutes. All topics are presented in the morning, and participants choose by a show of hands which themes interest them. To our delight, all 3 topics from Michael and Hans-Martin sparked the interest of the participants and were included in the comprehensive daily schedule.
Session 1: Knowledge Transfer, how do you do it?
Conveying knowledge is only the first step. For successful training, coaching, education, and further training, the application of what has been learned is ultimately the exciting, and often difficult, point. In this session, various methods were collected on how to realize the transfer and application of newly conveyed knowledge practically. In addition to classic coaching and learning groups, digital aids such as apps or learning management systems like blink.it are increasingly coming into focus.
We once again clearly saw future trends, especially in the digital learning world. The big keyword for a modern, flexible, and practice-oriented complement to face-to-face events is Blended Learning!
What we learned: The future trend clearly points towards combined learning methods. Blended Learning, which means the combination of face-to-face and online learning, is becoming increasingly prominent in the mindset of trainers and companies.
What you can learn from this: These opportunities are YOUR opportunities. What today is a great unique selling proposition for your training or coaching can become the foundation for lifelong modern learning in just a few years - and if you become an expert in Blended Learning by then, you will always be right at the front!
Do you want to know how knowledge transfer with Blended Learning works in practice? In this article, there are 3 practical examples that successfully implemented the concept of Blended Learning in very individual ways. Which concept also suits you?

Session 2: What makes a good LMS?
As we learned in the first session, digital knowledge transfer is gaining popularity. Therefore, Learning Management Systems (LMS) are also highly sought after. In the discussion round, interested parties, active users, and providers were represented.
Three important points stood out:
Handling must be simple! The operation must be intuitive for both trainers and participants and certainly not a barrier in the learning process.
Learning success must be measurable! Especially important for trainers: Key figures for the success and sustainability of one’s own training are an absolute MUST as a basis for customer acquisition and retention.
Individuality must be possible! A certain degree of individuality with one’s own colors, logos, and recognition features is, of course, desired by all trainers, coaches, and organizations.
Based on these and other desires, various Learning Management Systems have already been developed. However, especially Blended Learning places special demands on an LMS. Why many classic systems are unsuitable for Blended Learning and what you really need to pay attention to in order to find the perfect LMS for Blended Learning, we have summarized for you here: That’s why typical LMS are not good software for Blended Learning
Session 3: Studio @ home - why video excites us!
Now it’s about practice! Michael's session "studio@home" on the topic of filming at home and video creation with a smartphone was again a huge hit at the CLC, just as it has been at many other events. Why the topic of video is so exciting is easy to see when you look at today’s media landscape:
Videos are an integral part of the online world. Whether as a short selfie on Facebook and Snapchat or tips and instructions on Youtube: According to the ARD/ZDF Online Study, over 70% of Germans watch online videos at least occasionally, and over 50% regularly. And almost 25% use video portals like Youtube daily! That’s an incredibly large target audience, showing the enthusiasm that videos as a medium generate. Not least because nowadays almost every mobile device is equipped with a camera - thus, creating one’s own videos in good quality is now possible for almost anyone who owns a smartphone.

Great demand and enthusiastic participants at Michael's studio@home session at CLC 2018
Online videos are entering every area of life: When millions of people use videos for private learning purposes daily (in the form of tutorial or explanatory videos), the question naturally arises how this medium can also be used for targeted further education and professional training and how you can create qualitatively and content-wise great videos. These were probably some of the questions that attracted so many participants to our session.
If you didn’t have the opportunity to participate in our studio@home session, we have all the information for you on how you can film qualitatively great videos about your training content without much effort:

#CLC2018: Give impulses and gain ideas
Our goal for CLC 2018 was to share our knowledge with experts from other fields through discussion and active exchange, to bring in new impulses for ourselves and our clients, and above all: to inspire the Corporate Learning Community for Blended Learning! And we have more than achieved this goal!
All three sessions were well received. Over 40 participants attended Michael's session - with 10 simultaneous topics, that was really an enormous demand and for us a clear sign that we are indeed on the right track and have struck a chord for the future.
The interest in topics related to digitalization and the flexibility of training, coaching, and further education is growing ever larger. And the feedback on our sessions and on blink.it as a platform for Blended Learning was, as always, overwhelmingly positive. And so we leave with many inspiring impressions and new ideas from the "Learning World of the Future" and are already looking forward to CLC 2019.
We are interested in your opinion: What does learning look like in the future? Will Blended Learning be the common learning method by 2025 - or even pure e-learning? Feel free to leave us a message!
