The online guidance as a marketable product with added value – In conversation with Wolfgang Schneiderheinze part 2

Practical example

Trainer

The path to one's own online coaching is not clear at first glance for every trainer or coach. Konstantin Ristl (blink.it) and Wolfgang Schneiderheinze (menschenspiegel) discussed the benefits and creation of online coaching. This part covers the steps towards your own online coaching. You can find the conversation entry in part 1.

The central questions of the interview are:

  • How do you see the transition from training to an offering with online coaching?

  • What changes in sales between daily rates and your training package?

  • How do you set prices for your online coaching?

  • What are your top 3 arguments to book your complete package?

  • Recommendations for building your own online coaching?

You can view all the answers here (duration: approx. 4 minutes):

Here is a brief summary of what type of online coaching it is: Wolfgang Schneiderheinze offers tools in his online coaching that he presents in face-to-face training. These include, for example, videos explaining individual training methods. Additionally, all participants receive a weekly task. This task also reaches participants as a short video message. Participants can first refresh the content independently of the trainer. Open questions regarding practical transfer are clarified through comments and in subsequent phone coaching. More about the introduction in part 1 of the series (also 4 minutes).

In the interview, Wolfgang Schneiderheinze explains how he transitioned to online coaching. He already had a concept or a rough idea in advance. He wanted to make his training methods available afterwards. He divided the individual methods into small units. For each of these methods, he created videos in which he briefly presents a method and gives exercise instructions. His participants have access to the “Communication Workshop” after the face-to-face training. This way, they can repeat the individual methods after the training and improve their skills in areas where development is needed. For Wolfgang Schneiderheinze, the central question is: “What should participants do with what I convey to them (after the training)?” This question also occupies his clients. They want the employees to apply the content after the face-to-face seminar. And this purpose is precisely the focus of the online coaching related to the training. This aspect comes into play during the order clarification and price negotiations. The online coaching is priced per participant at a specific rate. This package of daily rate and online coaching is still cheaper than, for example, a booster session for practical transfer 6 or 8 weeks after the face-to-face event (thus a full daily rate). A package of face-to-face event, online coaching, and, for example, a method like phone coaching can even provide a more concrete representation of how the practical transfer is supported. This was at least the case with the “Communication Workshop.” Customers were clearer about the purpose of the phone coaching afterwards.

These are essential selling points for this type of online coaching:

  • The long-term support in the form of information about training methods

  • Regular impulses on the training topic (in this case, once a week)

  • The exchange between trainer and participants during the transfer phase

  • The feedback from employees to the (video) offer to the employer

  • Very concrete exercises for the participant
