Dare to take the plunge into innovation – if not today, then when? HR professionals are burdened with an image that allows little agility and development. However, only with a little courage to take risks and trust in new ideas can progress be made, as was clearly demonstrated at the kick-off event of the HR Innovation Roadshow 2018.
Fresh Winds for Human Resources
“Innovation starts in the mind with a bold idea and the courage to take risks” (Björn Engholm, German politician)
Great ideas often stand out by their simplicity – yet many ideas are stifled in their infancy when viewed only from one angle. Particularly in HR, innovations face significant challenges. The fear of change and the possibility of failure looms too large.
Companies that are still at the very beginning must not be dominated by this fear. Only those who dare can win – this principle keeps start-ups running in their early years. Many HR departments, however, are miles away from this mindset.
The HR Innovation Roadshow aims to change that. The core idea of the event series: to build bridges between start-ups and HR professionals from larger companies to enhance collaboration and nurture innovation.
This is the HR Innovation Roadshow
On May 17, 2018, the kick-off event of the HR Innovation Roadshow took place in Frankfurt. The organizers: Jess Koch from the DGFP and Prof. Dr. Simon Werther from the Federal Association of German Startups. For blink.it, Hans-Martin and Michael were in Frankfurt to present the innovative learning concept of Blended Learning for greater sustainability in training and further education.

As a start-up, we at blink.it have already taken the first step and are firmly convinced that daring to embrace new ideas pays off. Our message to HR professionals: Be open to new things in further education – an easy start is possible!
Making Investments in Professional Development Worthwhile – with Blended Learning
German companies invest 32 billion euros annually in the further education of their employees, as Hans-Martin presented at the HR Innovation Roadshow in Frankfurt. The problem: 77% of seminar participants fail to implement what they have learned in their daily lives.
This results in approximately 24 billion euros being “burned” in companies without a sustainable effect. What many HR professionals seem to learn from this: further education is not worthwhile and should be significantly reduced. But appearances are deceiving! Quite the contrary, further education remains immensely important in 2018 to make a company strong for the future.
It is not the quantity that should be changed, but the quality of further education. This is where the solution from blink.it comes in: With an online support, seminar participants will not suddenly be left alone in their professional lives after the last event. An online course before the first event is also sensible to get all participants up to the same level – the actual face-to-face training is thus strengthened and can start without long introductions.
This concept of linking traditional face-to-face events and online platforms for preparation and follow-up is called Blended Learning.
