Dare to innovate – if not today, then when? Recruiters have an image that allows little agility and development. But only with a bit of courage to take risks and trust in new ideas does progress emerge, as was clearly demonstrated at the kick-off event of the HR Innovation Roadshow 2018.
Fresh Wind for Human Resources
“Innovation begins in the mind with a bold idea and the courage to take risks” (Björn Engholm, German politician)
Great ideas are often characterized by their simplicity – yet many ideas are stifled in their infancy when only seen from one angle. Especially in the HR field, innovations have a hard time. The fear of change and the possibility of failure is too great.
Companies that are just starting out must not allow themselves to be dominated by this fear. Only those who dare can win – this motto keeps start-ups going in their early years. Many HR departments, on the other hand, are miles away from this attitude.
The HR Innovation Roadshow aims to change that. The core idea of the event series: build bridges between start-ups and recruiters from larger companies to strengthen collaboration and provide the necessary fertile ground for innovation.
This is the HR Innovation Roadshow
On May 17, 2018, the kick-off event of the HR Innovation Roadshow took place in Frankfurt. The organizers: Jess Koch from the DGFP and Prof. Dr. Simon Werther from the Federal Association of German Startups. For blink.it, Hans-Martin and Michael were in Frankfurt to present the innovative learning concept Blended Learning for greater sustainability in training and further education.

As a start-up, we at blink.it have already taken the first step and are firmly convinced that the courage to embrace new ideas pays off. Our message to recruiters: Be open to new things in further education – an easy entry is possible!
Making investments in professional development worthwhile – with Blended Learning
German companies invest 32 billion euros annually in the training of their employees, as Hans-Martin presented at the HR Innovation Roadshow in Frankfurt. The problem: 77% of seminar participants fail to apply what they've learned in their everyday lives.
This results in approximately 24 billion euros being “burned” in companies without sustainable effects. What many HR professionals believe they learn from this: further training isn't worthwhile and should be drastically reduced. But appearances can be deceiving! Quite the contrary, further training remains immensely important in 2018 to make a company strong for the future.
It's not the number that should be changed, but the type of further training. This is where blink.it's solution comes into play: with online support, seminar participants are not suddenly left alone in their professional lives after the last event. Also, before the first event, an online course is beneficial to bring all participants to the same level – thus strengthening the actual presence training and allowing it to start without a long introduction.
This concept of intertwining classic presence events with an online platform for preparation and follow-up is called Blended Learning. Do you want to know what such a platform could look like in practice? Then take a look at our example course!
