We summarize the 3 top learning trends for the next three years and show how you can wonderfully intertwine videos, micro and blended learning.

  1. Learning Trend No. 1: Videos / EduTubers

  2. Learning Trend No. 2: Micro-Credentials

  3. Learning Trend No. 3: Blended Learning

Learning Trend No. 1: Videos / "EduTubers"

This is what the trend means according to the study: 91.4% of respondents say that the segment "EduTubers" will continue to grow. EduTubers are professionals who create and upload videos to YouTube alongside their teaching activities. These videos can then be purchased by educators. Additionally, 72% of respondents say that explanatory films can be a good source of income.

Tip for HR and trainers: Either you buy videos for your e-learning - or you shoot them internally yourself! YouTube is not a platform for glossy image films, which is why most EduTubers are not professional filmmakers. If you or someone from your team is interested in making your own videos, we can only say: Go for it! You need neither expensive equipment nor years of experience in shooting videos.

The most important thing is good sound and an authentic appearance! Then videos are not only a sustainable method in e-learning but also offer a high personal factor.

Learning Trend No. 2: Micro-Credentials

This is what the trend means according to the study: 77% approval for the statement "Micro-credentials generally increase attractiveness for informal learning". These refer to mini-certificates intended to motivate self-directed learners.

Tip for HR and trainers: "Micro" has been in trend not just this year. The idea behind micro-credentials is to promote self-directed learning with short content and quick rewards. After all, the biggest challenge in e-learning remains keeping participants motivated.

Learning Trend No. 3: Blended Learning

This is what the trend means according to the study: While it seems hardly believable at 91% approval, blended learning has actually dropped in significance compared to the previous year (100%). However, blended learning has been stable among the top trends of the trend monitor for over 10 years. One can hardly call it a "trend" anymore! Let’s put it this way: Blended learning clearly belongs to the standard repertoire of modern continuing education.
