Video inserts and pure atmosphere at the BDVT Camp 2018

A mood like among friends: The BDVT Camp 2018 was once again a fantastic experience with many highlights. For example, the group “Bühnenpolka”, which performed improvised shows at the exhibitor stands. At blink.it, everything revolved around the topic of videos – and how to produce studio-quality content with a smartphone.

A feeling like among friends

“The enthusiasm of the people is incredibly contagious and just plain fun”

– says Hans-Martin Sprungk from blink.it after the BDVT Camp. He and Konstantin Ristl spent two great days in Essen. Already upon arrival, the location of the Zeche Zollverein, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2001, impressed everyone.

The innovation in 2018 was the Barcamp, where each participant or exhibitor could present their own topic on the second day. Konstantin has long been convinced of this event format and sees it confirmed after the BDVT Camp: “The mix was just right: One day with a fixed program that you can prepare for and one day of spontaneous sessions where everyone can participate and engage in deeper conversations.”

Last but not least, the consistently great atmosphere at the BDVT Camp convinced everyone. Konstantin and Hans-Martin met many, sometimes long-standing acquaintances and noted: The BDVT motto “Human.Machine.Friendship” has proven to be 100% true.

Great atmosphere even after the official program: Live music from “Bühnenpolka” and plenty of room for exchange at the BDVT Camp 2018.

Improvised video performance by the group “Bühnenpolka”

A special highlight at the BDVT Camp 2018: The organizers had arranged for the improvisational theater group “Bühnenpolka” to lead short performances through the exhibitors. The audience was asked to provide an original training topic, which the actors spontaneously turned into a small play.

At the blink.it stand, the audience proposed the theme “Knitting in the Dark.” One of the three actors acted as a moderator and read out a training method recommended by blink.it. His two colleagues immediately applied the method and spoke into the smartphone installed in front of them with the camera running.

Konstantin Ristl also reacted spontaneously and filmed the improvised play. Here you can watch the amusing action:

We see: A bright lamp, a stable holder for the smartphone – that’s all you need to shoot professional-looking videos. Just add a bit of humor and enthusiasm for the topic, and great videos emerge that are ideal for online training accompaniment.

By the way: The cards used by the actor in the video come from our rocket pack – the card game for blended learning. With it, you receive 40 training methods that have been proven for online use.

The rocket pack was so well received at the BDVT Camp 2018 that Hans-Martin spontaneously raffled off a card game including online materials after his session “Blended Learning – The Training Concept of the Future?”

Videos for Blended Learning: Studio quality via smartphone

Another session of the Barcamp was held by Konstantin on the topic “Studio quality with the smartphone.” The topic of video is always a hot topic in the training world, as was clearly demonstrated again at the BDVT Camp: Konstantin was pleased with the second most votes for his session during the voting.

Format Barcamp: On the second day of the BDVT Camp 2018, all participants could suggest session topics and then vote with colorful stickers for the most interesting ones.

Even after the presentation, participants discussed various applications of videos. What should I pay attention to? Is the method suitable for every trainer? Here again are the three most important facts and recommendations on the topic of shooting videos with your own smartphone:

  • The sound makes the music! Our recommendation for good sound quality with a smartphone: Lavalier microphone Rode smartLav+

  • Light makes things bright and looks professional! Our recommendation: Find a bright room and use a small LED panel for the face.

  • Stability is convincing. Our recommendation for shake-free videos: Use a tripod plus smartphone holder and clamp.

Video recordings with your own smartphone – the simplest and yet most cost-effective solution for all trainers who want to expand their offerings with little effort.

As with the Petersberg Trainer Days, the Event App from Lineupr impressed participants: Everyone always has their own smartphone with them and it offers the perfect and paper-saving alternative to program flyers. A clear thumbs up from blink.it!
