E-learning for employees: Make further education a competitive advantage!

E-Learning

Company

Turning learning into reality – that is the motto of Corporate Learning & Change GmbH. The company from Stuttgart supports its customers and their employees using the blink.it platform in acquiring new skills. The goal: Learn more focused and faster than competitors. In an interview, we asked L&D expert Thomas Possler: How does learning become a success factor?

Learning becomes an advantage over competitors – I have never heard that before. Isn't it usually the strategy, the budget, and the quality of products that determine a company's success? The latest blink.it use case clearly shows: It is the quality of training that helps position companies at the top.

The Corporate Learning & Change GmbH (short: CLC) wants to pass on this approach to customers. Therefore, we inquired at the company itself and found out in a short interview with Thomas Possler (Learning Consultant at CLC) how successful training works and what prerequisites should ideally be met.

CLC: Learning means change

CLC Learning Consultant Thomas Possler

About the person: Thomas Possler has been a Learning Consultant at CLC for over 4 years. Together with the long-term practical partner blink.it, the company implements projects for internal knowledge transfer as well as for external customers. The blink.it platform is used in both application cases – both for internal knowledge management (e.g., with screencasts) and for customer projects.

Thus, the company has offered online courses on the blink.it platform with up to 200 participants, enabling employees to take advantage of new opportunities. Through training, the e-learning expert aims for change – with the consequence that participants can transform this change into a competitive advantage for their company.

Learning becomes a competitive advantage

Now the question arises: How can learning become a competitive advantage and what conditions should be created for this? To answer this question, Thomas Possler has provided us insights into the philosophy at CLC. Based on these insights, we have summarized three key tips for you: This is how you create optimal conditions for promising training in your company!

1. Provide an e-learning platform

With the right e-learning platform, you facilitate the knowledge exchange for your employees – both formally and informally. Through the platform, employees can capture new knowledge and make it available to the entire team.

“We always talk about mindset, skillset & toolset. The employees or the organization obviously need certain tools and learning content to learn. But that’s not all. The respective mindset and openness to new things also play a significant role.” – Thomas Possler

Therefore, additionally create a learning culture in a company that motivates employees to successfully complete training!

2. Implement the right learning culture in your company

The right learning culture in your company exists when you

… know the needs of your learners.
… enable learning when employees need corresponding content.
… recognize that true cultural change ranges from the individual employee to the management level.

3. Set fixed time blockers for e-learning

If you introduce fixed blockers in the calendar for e-learning, training will become a regular part of everyday professional life!

“I often see that participants in projects or tasks don’t really progress because they don’t have the active time, and when they do, it is consumed by daily business. That’s why we agree on certain times that should be blocked to allow time for personal development.” – Thomas Possler

You see: Learning can also become a competitive advantage in your company! To ensure that knowledge is stored sustainably, your e-learning offering should not only contain theoretical foundations but also establish connections to practice.

“Almost all of our courses include practical projects so that participants can implement things and later have something in hand (e.g., a concept or guideline). With typical digital learning formats, this is not possible. Therefore, we rely on blended learning, i.e., a mixture of self-learning formats, practice, exchanges, and informal offerings.” – Thomas Possler

Find the right learning platform for your company!

You want to create a learning culture that contributes to the success of the company – but you actually lack the time to engage more intensively in training?

The central advantage of blink.it: The platform is designed to be so simple and intuitive that you, as a course creator, can start immediately – without needing to spend a lot of time learning how to use the platform.

“I previously worked with other learning platforms, but I already noticed at university that many didn’t really use these systems. At least back then, they were very complicated and slow. The consequence was that many looked for their own ways to put their materials online. When blink.it came along, it also met my needs in my profession.” – Thomas Possler

But especially the ease of use of the platform is crucial for CLC Learning Consultant Thomas Possler: "The handling was immediately self-explanatory and intuitive for me as a user and administrator. My participants also quickly get the hang of using it, as the usability presents hardly any obstacles. Furthermore, we don’t need IT to take care of stability, etc. If I do have problems, Lisa from blink.it or other colleagues from the crew usually respond and help me as quickly as possible to resolve the issues – even if I made them myself by accident.”
