Requirements for the Trainer 4.0

Blended Learning

Trainer

Company

Im increasingly coming across the terms: Industry 4.0, Work 4.0, Internet of Things, Digitalization, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, and Agility. Many experts predict: The world of work will change significantly in the next 5-10 years due to the technological innovations mentioned above. The personal hashtag must not be missing: #futureofwork.

Are you ready to make the leap from Trainer 2.0 to Trainer 4.0?

The Bertelsmann Foundation has compiled the results of the BarCamp Work 4.0 in two publications. These publications are very extensive. If you are interested in a specific aspect, then take a look at the tables of contents:

Proclamation "Future of Work" Work 4.0: How will we work in the future?

One thing that stands out: It is assumed that many (partial) work tasks will be automated. As a result, this means that jobs, as we know them today, will disappear. Do you want to know which jobs will be replaced? The BBC offers a job search engine. There you can enter various jobs and get an assessment of how likely that job will be automated. The University of Oxford provides the data. In German, there is the Automation Job Search Engine at the newspaper "Die Süddeutsche".

Trainer and Coach: A profession that cannot be automated

The good news: Trainers will probably not be replaced by computers and robots anytime soon.

So how will the future world of work look for the Trainer 4.0? What changes can be expected in professions? I recommend the entertaining presentation by Gunter Dueck (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunter%5FDueck) (also from the BarCamp Work 4.0). It's definitely worth watching! I have summarized the key points for you here:

Expected Changes in the World of Work Due to Digitalization and Co.

  • Social skills will increasingly gain importance in order to collaborate well in multicultural, digitally connected teams

  • Each profession will lose its routine component. The difficult part of the profession will remain. For example, the profession of tax advisor: The routine task of data entry will be lost. The difficult activity will remain: Advising on a contract with many dependencies and peculiarities in contract law.

  • Skills and ability to act are more important than degrees and grades. The question is not: “What have you learned?” but “What can you do?” and “What have you done?” is important.

  • The new world of work will demand new educational and training objectives.

If you want to know more precisely, you can find the complete lecture (40 minutes) here

It will show whether these predictions come true and what changes accompany them. In my opinion, training measures will increasingly aim to prepare employees for this dynamic, unpredictable, and rapidly changing world of work. In this case, that means developing skills in various areas. The training agenda in Work 4.0 could include the following topics: Social skills, problem-solving strategies, process and system understanding, understanding of human information processing, learning to learn, work-life balance, and stress management. With the changes in the world of work, the requirements profile of Trainer 4.0 will also change.

And this is how the requirements for Trainer 4.0 will look

The Trainer 4.0...

  • ...accompanies the learning processes of participants over a longer period.

  • ...ensures a high practical transfer of the learned skills.

  • ...is a contact person for competence development.

  • ...designs the learning experience and the learning environment for the participants.

  • ...works as an information curator and provides learning resources. The learner decides which information is useful at the workplace.

  • ...supports groups/teams in learning.

  • ...initiates reflection processes in the participants.

  • ...ensures that learning takes place close to the world of work.

Do you want to know how you can achieve these qualities specifically in your topic? Then describe your training to me in the comment (or through the contact form) and we will help you become Trainer 4.0 faster.
