LEARNTEC 2019 has amazed us once again! After four successful years of the trade fair, we are presenting you today our three steps for the perfect conversation starter at trade fairs. This way, you can save time on your next trade fair visit and take the best of it home.
3 Steps for a Quick Start to the Conversation
At a trade fair like LEARNTEC, there are several thousand visitors and several hundred exhibitors. This makes it difficult to find the right conversation partners. After all, most visitors have a goal in mind, a question, or a problem they want to solve.

In short: For visitors as well as exhibitors, it is extremely important at a trade fair to find a good conversation starter. We have drawn our conclusions from four years of LEARNTEC and are now introducing you to the three steps to the best conversation starter:
Step 1) What is being offered?
As a visitor to a trade fair like LEARNTEC, you usually pass by hundreds of booths. When a particular booth catches your interest, you gain an impression within seconds: Does it look good? Is it perhaps interesting for me?
However, your first impression does not always align with what the exhibitor is actually offering. So, the question directly to the exhibitor, “What are you offering?” is the first step to understanding who you are dealing with.
Step 2) What problem do I want to solve?
You now have a rough idea of what type of offering this booth involves. Now you should briefly explain what YOUR topic at the trade fair is. In other words: What problem do you want to solve?
Often, this is the point where it becomes clear: Visitors and exhibitors do not come together here. However, if you follow this sequence, only very few minutes have passed. Thus, you save a lot of time by explaining early in the conversation what exactly you are looking for.
Step 3) How do we come together?
If you found out in Steps 1 and 2 that your topics overlap, you can go deeper into the conversation. You can ask specific questions, and the exhibitor will best show you directly what their product or service looks like.
That’s it – these three steps are enough to quickly and effectively start a conversation. However, even then, a trade fair is generally not the right place to make an immediate decision (even though, as was the case last year at LEARNTEC, a client booked directly at the booth!).
This year, we have again offered many interested trade fair visitors the opportunity to test blink.it at home in a calm environment. Once the hustle and bustle has settled down, the visitor can decide for themselves when and how they want to engage more closely with the platform!
Also, visiting the presentations at a trade fair is absolutely worthwhile! This year, blink.it founders Konstantin Ristl and Michael Witzke particularly impressed visitors with the smallest studio in the world, the studio@home.

What We Offer from blink.it
We offer a software that allows you to quickly and easily create online course content yourself. With blink.it, you can either create a standalone online course or use us as software for blended learning.
The blink.it platform is similar to a Learning Management System (LMS), but it has some advantages over traditional LMS: for example, very easy usability for creators and participants. In some companies, blink.it is used in addition to an LMS. So, it does not necessarily exclude each other!

Additionally, we offer blink.it as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). This means: We take care of all the technical aspects – you take care of the content. With our many editorial offerings like guides and concept templates, we also indirectly support you in content creation!

What Trade Fairs and Blended Learning Have in Common
As mentioned above, blink.it is very frequently used as software for blended learning. At LEARNTEC, we noticed how similar trade fairs and the concept of blended learning actually are!
In blended learning, personal presence appointments are often used to get to know each other before starting a collaboration, to answer initial questions, and to clarify the further process for training.
In the same way, we see a trade fair: Perhaps you have already heard of us before or have a rough idea – but an event like LEARNTEC is a great opportunity to set the course through an initial acquaintance. Just as per the three steps mentioned above: What is this exhibitor offering? Can they solve my problem? And how do we come together?
The trade fair is therefore a great place to
get a brief explanation of the software on the laptop from a professional,
take flyers and other information with you,
and clarify the most important questions for yourself.
And after that, testing begins! Perhaps you discuss it with colleagues, sleep a few nights over the newly spun idea, and then take your time to get a clear picture for yourself.
