LEARNTEC 2019 blew us away again! After four successful years at the trade fair, we are now presenting our three steps for the perfect conversation starter at trade shows. This way, you can save time on your next trade fair visit and take the best things home with you.
3 Steps for a Quick Start to the Conversation
At a trade fair like LEARNTEC, there are several thousand visitors and several hundred exhibitors. This makes it difficult to find the right conversation partners. After all, most visitors have a goal in mind, a question, or a problem they want to solve.

In short: For visitors as well as exhibitors, it is extremely important at a trade fair to find a good conversation starter. We have drawn our conclusion from four years of LEARNTEC and are now introducing you to the three steps to the best start to the conversation:
Step 1) What is being offered?
As a visitor at a trade fair like LEARNTEC, you typically walk past hundreds of booths. When a particular booth catches your interest, you form an impression within seconds: Does it look good? Might it be interesting for me?
However, your first impression does not always match what the exhibitor is truly offering. The question directly to the exhibitor "What are you offering?" is therefore the first step to understand who you actually have in front of you.
Step 2) What problem do I want to solve?
Now you have a rough idea of what kind of offer is being made at this booth. Now you should briefly explain what YOUR topic is at the trade fair. In other words: What problem do you want to solve?
This is often the point where it becomes clear: Visitors and exhibitors do not come together here. However, if you follow this order, only a few minutes will have passed. You save a lot of time if you mention early in the conversation what exactly you are looking for.
Step 3) How do we come together?
If you have established in steps 1 and 2 that your topics overlap, you can dive deeper into the conversation. You can ask specific questions and the exhibitor can best show you directly how their product or service looks.
That's it – these three steps are enough to quickly and effectively start a conversation. However, even then, a trade fair is usually not the right place to make a decision immediately (even though, like last year at LEARNTEC, a client booked directly at the booth!).
This year, we again offered many interested trade fair visitors the chance to test blink.it quietly at home. Once the hustle and bustle has subsided, the visitor can decide for themselves when and how to engage more closely with the platform!
Visiting the presentations at a trade fair is, of course, worthwhile! This year, blink.it founders Konstantin Ristl and Michael Witzke thrilled visitors primarily with the smallest studio in the world, the studio@home.

What We Offer at blink.it
We offer a software that allows you to quickly and easily create content for an online course. With blink.it, you can create a self-contained online course, or use us as software for blended learning.
The blink.it platform is similar to an LMS, but has several advantages over traditional LMS: for example, very easy usability for creators and participants. In some companies, blink.it is used alongside an LMS. So they do not necessarily exclude each other!

What Trade Fairs and Blended Learning Have in Common
As mentioned earlier, blink.it is very often used as software for blended learning. At LEARNTEC, we noticed how similar trade fairs and the blended learning concept actually are!
In blended learning, personal presence appointments are often used to get to know each other before a collaboration, answer initial questions, and clarify the further process for training.
This is exactly how we see a trade fair: Perhaps you have already heard of us or have a rough idea – but an event like LEARNTEC is a great opportunity to set the course through an initial meeting. Just following the three steps mentioned above: What is this exhibitor offering? Can they solve my problem? And how do we come together?
The trade fair is therefore a great place to
have a professional briefly explain the software on a laptop,
collect flyers and other information,
and clarify the most important questions for yourself.
And then testing will happen! Perhaps you discuss with colleagues, sleep a few nights over the newly spun idea, and then take your time to get a clearer picture.
