Bring in a lot of information, keep it concise, and still speak fluently – do you sometimes struggle to produce videos for your training sessions? In this article, you'll learn how to bring more structure to your learning videos using a simple tool.

More structure for your learning videos? It's that easy!

To create contributions as concise as possible, you don’t need any special talent or years of practice. A simple tool is enough to help you plan your content.

This tool was developed by Ariane Willikonsky – the Speaker Clock. It is a simple tool that helps you design high-quality short videos in no time.

The Speaker Clock is a helpful communication tool for structuring speeches and texts. It is a step-by-step guide that gives your content a clear structure while considering all important perspectives.

The Speaker Clock is therefore a structural element for planning speeches and videos. It helps you produce content with a clear message. It is especially suitable for trainers and coaches and facilitates the creation of learning content of any kind.

The Speaker Clock addresses six simple questions to you. These will help you to

  • formulate a very focused core message,

  • derive a call to action from it, and

  • address the call to action precisely to your audience.

You can see how this works in the following example:

Example: Use the Speaker Clock for your training introduction

Have you ever wondered how to start your online courses or videos in general? We will show you with an example how to cleverly use the Speaker Clock for this purpose.

To present your content well-structured, you should write yourself a short script. It helps to note down the following six questions of the Speaker Clock in short sentences:

The 6 Questions of the Speaker Clock

  1. Who are you?

  2. What is your topic?

  3. For whom is your topic suitable?

  4. How does it work? Or: How is it applied?

  5. What is the goal of your topic?

  6. What comes next? (Call to action)

Tips from Speaker Clock inventor Ariane Willikonsky: “First, work out your core messages based on the questions. Then, answer each of the six questions with one to two short sentences. You amplify your impact when you take a short pause after each section and make eye contact with your participants or the camera. Start your video with a friendly contact build-up and end it with a concrete call to action.”

How to implement these steps in the video is shown by blink.it colleague Claudia:

Claudia's example clearly shows how the Speaker Clock provides a framework for the content of her online course. Were you able to recognize the six different steps of the Speaker Clock in the structure of her welcome video?

With this structure, it is significantly easier for you to conceptualize videos: You get a kind of roadmap to guide you all the time! This way, you take away your uncertainty and can focus on your actual goal – creating good and precise content.

Of course, the Speaker Clock can be used not just in the video context! You can also use the tool in your in-person events to communicate your content even more convincingly. Try it out for yourself and apply the Speaker Clock for the introduction of your next in-person event or film a video for your online course!

And a second important learning from the example: A video doesn’t have to be perfect – the most important thing is the content and an authentic, friendly demeanor! 🙂
