The Corona crisis has hit the continuing education sector hard. But what does the future look like? A survey by seminarmarkt shows the most important learning format after the crisis for trainers and companies.
Even though the (first) Corona wave is slowly flattening, the continuing education sector remains under pressure: Little personal contact and rapid digitalization could change the industry sustainably. The effects of the Corona crisis on continuing education have been examined by the platform seminarmarkt.de in two surveys. Among other things, it looked at what the future of continuing education after Corona will look like:
After the crisis, the continuing education sector will be a mix of online-based services and traditional face-to-face interactions.

More than 83% of the 322 surveyed continuing education experts voted for the combination of learning formats. Just under 11% see the future of continuing education as back to the traditional face-to-face format. Only 3.5% voted for purely digital education via video chat. A clear result.
Online + Presence = Blended Learning
The combination of face-to-face and online learning is also called “Blended Learning”. For years, Blended Learning has topped many surveys as the best learning format, including in the mmb-Trendmonitor 2019 and Trendmonitor 2020.
Blended Learning is the perfect answer to the two biggest effects of the Corona crisis: Less personal contact in face-to-face training. And at the same time, the strong digitalization in favor of eLearning.
Even though eLearning is booming because of the crisis: Many educators and companies do not want to forgo personal contact. Blended Learning allows the ideal connection of both learning formats. This concept is realized on special learning platforms like blink.it.
Everyone involved benefits from Blended Learning:
Trainers build a partially digital second offer.
Companies save time and budgets for elaborate face-to-face events.
Employees learn with better practical transfer, independent of time and location.
Whether for trainers or companies: If the predictions hold true, Blended Learning will be the most important learning format after the Corona crisis. To continue offering your customers or employees contemporary learning formats, you should engage with it comprehensively now.
