Trainer

High-quality videos enhance your training or coaching significantly. Simply film yourself with your own smartphone and share the video with your participants, clients, or even the entire world. At blink.it, we have curated a selection of technical tools over time that we recommend for your video shoot with the smartphone. Learn now how the blink.it kit helps you create quality and affordable videos!

Good sound and good lighting in your studio@home

Creating video quality is incredibly easy today thanks to our digital companions: With any common smartphone, you can shoot high-resolution videos and share them directly with the world. For filming in your studio@home – that is, your own four walls – a handful of technical items will help you.

The most important is good sound, so we recommend an external microphone that you can easily clip onto your collar for a selfie video. A tripod with a smartphone holder and a bright floor lamp also ensure a stable image and good light. A self-timer is the icing on the cake – it helps you later so you have to cut less material.

You can find all recommendations for the tripod, light, microphone, and other tools in this article – or directly here as a concise list for download:

And if you're worried that the quality will not be sufficient with the smartphone despite the mentioned tools: Just try it out, and you will see that you do not need an expensive professional camera. Shooting with the smartphone is not only much cheaper (since you probably already own one), but also much easier.

Avoid the expensive purchase of high-tech devices, and save the effort of dealing with these devices! This way, you achieve 80% quality with 20% effort and cost.

Our purchase recommendation for your video shoot: The blink.it kit

When we started blink.it as a startup a few years ago, we looked for ways to shoot high-quality yet affordable videos. And we found that it works!

Today, we support trainers, coaches, and companies daily in creating online courses. Videos are a popular medium here as well because they are entertaining, convey content effectively, and create a certain closeness between the trainer and the participants.

Since we are often asked which technical tools we recommend for video shooting, we have compiled all purchase recommendations in one list: the blink.it kit. The following aspects were important to us in selecting the blink.it kit:

  1. Quality: Stability and high functionality are mandatory.

  2. Price: You can get the entire blink.it kit on Amazon for under 250 euros.

  3. Travel compatibility: You can easily store the blink.it kit in a small suitcase and take it anywhere.

For the compilation of the blink.it kit, we have extensively tested various devices and evaluated them based on the criteria mentioned above. Therefore, we can sincerely pass on all our purchase recommendations to you and use the blink.it kit ourselves in daily life.

Our technical recommendations for video shooting in detail

Enough announced – here you will find our individual purchase recommendations for your video shoot on the smartphone:

Microphone

The most important thing when creating videos is good sound – while the output on the smartphone is often sufficient, you are on the safe side with an external microphone. Here we recommend the Rode SmartLav Lavalier Microphone for about 50 euros.

Extension cable

So you can stand several meters away from your smartphone and record yourself, you need an extension cable in addition to the microphone. Here we recommend the 3-meter cable from KabelDirekt for about 9 euros. Note: Be sure to choose the 4-pole headset extension.

Tripod

A stable image is important for high video quality, in addition to good sound. Attach your smartphone and light to a tripod and adjust the height to suit you. Here we recommend the NOMIS light tripod for about 40 euros, which you can easily fold and is thus travel-friendly.

Lighting

For your first test recordings, you don't necessarily need an external light – but it helps ensure you have enough light in your studio@home, even on darker days. We recommend the Yongnuo YN-300 LED Video Light 5500K for about 80 euros, including remote control, battery, and charger.

Smartphone holder

To attach your smartphone to the tripod, you need a clamp or smartphone holder. We recommend the smartphone arm Joby Action Clamp and the Joby Grip Tight holder for a total of about 38 euros.

Self-timer

A self-timer helps you during filming so you don't have to run behind the camera every time to start recording. This saves you time and nerves later on while shooting. We recommend the Neuftech Bluetooth Remote Selfie Trigger for about 7 euros.
