Tip of the Week

In the meantime, there is an infinitely large selection of smartphones. But which one is the best if you want to shoot videos for online courses? We asked our blink.it experts which smartphones they use for video shoots and what they pay attention to when purchasing.

Videos are now really a must for digital education. Of course, your videos should also have a certain quality, but don’t worry: you don’t need super expensive equipment; your smartphone is absolutely sufficient. So which smartphone is suitable for filming videos for online courses?

We asked our video experts, which smartphone they are currently using and what is particularly important to them when choosing their smartphone. This way, you can also check which one matches your requirements and whether your current smartphone might be completely sufficient. Here’s a quick overview:

Claudia

Dennis

Konstantin

Which smartphone do you use?

Huawei P20 Pro

iPhone XR

Google Pixel 4

Are you satisfied with it?

Yes, but newer Huawei models no longer support Google products

Yes, especially due to its simple and intuitive operation with iOS

Yes, upgraded from the predecessor Google Pixel 2, with which I was also satisfied

What are the 3 purchasing criteria?

1. good sound, photo, and video quality

2. long battery life

3. plenty of storage and RAM

1. "Once Apple,
always Apple!"

2. iCloud services

3. operating speed

1. good camera quality for videos

2. operating system and good software

3. price

As you can see, in addition to the operating system, camera quality is particularly important. The smartphones mentioned here, for example, all have between 12 and 40 megapixels, with the camera quality of all models being quite similar. They are also priced very similarly, with all three smartphones costing under €650 on Amazon.

For the operating system, our experts recommend iOS and Vanilla Android, that is, the raw version of Android, with iOS being even more beginner-friendly. Our mini-comparison also shows that you don't necessarily need the latest smartphone. Of course, there are currently newer models, but the ones mentioned here are also completely sufficient for creating high-quality videos for online courses.

If you want to convince yourself of the camera quality of the smartphones listed above, feel free to check out these blog articles. There you’ll find videos shot with the three models:
